The Medicine House creates artisanal herbal crafts by hand in small batches. We also host experiences that include workshops, guided nature walks, gatherings, and more!

Join community herbalist and storyteller, Sarah Samms Velázquez, for some herbal tea while she explores the folklore of each herb in your cup. You will be invited to deepen your relationship with each plant through short writing exercises and guided meditation. At the end of class, you will have learned the plant lore of each medicinal herb in the tea blend and will go home with your own bag of tea from The Medicine House. All materials included.

Join community herbalist, Sarah Samms Velazquez, in exploring the foundations of blending a Western herbal tea to your liking. You will learn the art and science of three prominent medicinal herbs and blend your very own medicinal tea – tailored to your needs. When you leave, you will walk away with the knowledge of how to blend medicinal teas, the healing properties of three herbs, and a bag of tea that you created during the workshop.

Have you heard of medicinal vinegars? Join community herbalist Sarah Samms Velazquez to explore the art and science of three traditional medicinal vinegars: fire cider, four thieves' vinegar, and Amish elixir. Learn what they are, how they are used and how to make them. You will have the choice to make one of the three listed vinegars to take home, along with a full understanding of its properties. All materials are provided.

Sarah has been invited to host a panel at the WANA conference in October. Join her and many other writing professionals at this conference for writers in Northern Appalachia. In Sarah’s panel, she will be discussing the healing powers of nature writing for those of use who are in recovery.

Join community herbalist & storyteller, Sarah S. Velázquez, for this gathering crafted for all who appreciate the magick of plants. Sit in a circle with other practitioners (or aspiring ones!) with a fresh cup of herbal tea and learn about the folklore and magickal properties of each herb in your cup. This gathering welcomes and encourages participants to share their own experiences with some of their favorite plants. No experience is required to attend this gathering. It’s simply a place to learn and explore plant magick.
